At Ben Washington and Sons Plumbing, Inc. (BWS, Inc.) it is our goal to enter into develop, and nurture long term partnering relationships with our customers. BWS, Inc. is a full service Mechanical Contractor with $15 million bonding capacity providing services such as plumbing, piping, HVAC, demolition, temperature controls, and balancing.

As a historical company, we have continued growth in both capacity and reputation. BWS, Inc. maintains high quality standards by utilizing union plumbers and pipe fitters from Local 98. The firm is affiliated with trade associations such as Construction Association of Michigan (CAM), Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA), and Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC). Our services are performed on a wide array of project types and market sectors including educational institutions, libraries, museums, religious facilities, private and public institutions, apartments, townhouses, Industrial facilities, commercial buildings, municipalities, as well as site developments.
We have a diverse team that ranges from project engineers, project managers, estimators, foremen, fitters, and office staff that are all constantly engaged at some, if not all project levels. We provide a high level of supervision and coordination, ultimately stemming from our passion for unwavering quality and customer satisfaction.

1958 - First Ben Washington & Sons Service Truck
BWS was founded by a historical pioneer who was steeped into the cultural and historical roots of Detroit in the 1950s.
Founder Benjamin T. Washington was born in Burdette, Arkansas, June 15, 1924 and attended the public schools of his native home, graduating from Burdette Junior High prior to coming to Detroit, where he established residency 1941. Benjamin T. Washington went to work for Ford Motor Company in 1946. In 1957 he decided he wanted to become a plumber and went into residential work for Frank Griffin a Master Plumber. During the same year he went into the sewer cleaning business. He became a Journeyman Plumber in 1964, and enlarged his business to include excavating.
In March of 1966, Mr. Washington became a Master Plumber which increased his firm’s activities to include plumbing. When he received his heating license in 1970, Ben Washington & Sons expanded into: Sewer Cleaning, Excavating, Plumbing, Sheet Metal Work and Heating. In April of 1971 Ben Washington & Sons was incorporated and became Ben Washington & Sons Plumbing & Heating, Inc (BWS, Inc.). As a result of his progressive enterprise, BWS, Inc. had been responsible for training 45 apprentices by this time.
BWS continues to charge ahead and continues it’s legacy created many years ago.
Since its incorporation BWS, Inc. has maintained its progressive culture and has developed into servicing Commercial and Industrial organizations. Isaac J. Washington the president of BWS, Inc. received his Bachelors in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University in 1976, his Mechanical Contractor License in the late 1980’s and was issued his Master Plumber License by the State Plumbing Board in 2001 after passing his examination; thus following in the footsteps of his beloved father, the late Reverend Benjamin T. Washington.
